grandma-022.jpgRuth Barbara RAMSEY Mrs. Ruth Ramsey, age 78 of 19706 Filbert Drive in Bothell, died March 9, 2007 at Swedish Medical Center-Providence Campus in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit, 6 weeks following brain tumor surgery.

Ruth was born June 23, 1928 in Youngstown, Ohio; a daughter of Christopher & Marguerite Benedict. She came to Washington from Pittsburgh, Pa. where her husband worked for the DuPont Co. of Wilmington, Delaware after graduation from Grove City College in 1951 in chemical engineering. She has lived in Bothell, at the same address, since 1958. She worked part-time at Morgan’s Book & Bible Store (Family Store) in Lynnwood as a clerk and at King’s Garden (Crista Ministries) as an attendant care taker in the Assisted Living Apartments while raising her 7 children. For many years, she and her husband were active in the Alderwood Manor Community Church as Sunday school teachers & deaconess. She started attending there when it was a frame building known as “The Little White Church on the hill” on the present site on land donated by Pope & Talbot for such a purpose long before I-5 was built.

Her love and care for the family are legendary, as were her frequent shopping trips to stores selling used items, looking for bargains. She lived out I Cor. 13:13 “But now faith, hope, love; abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.” Her passing to glory leaves a void beyond measure to her family but her legacy continues in her loving children & grandchildren. How blessed we have been to partake in the life of this magnificent wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother who demonstrated unconditional love & competency.

She is survived by her husband, Frank, whom she married April 27, 1949; 1 son, Todd Eugene of Brier, 6 daughters, Susan O’Neil of Durham, NC; Mrs. Dinah Ische of Lake Stevens; Mrs. Marsha Sherwood of Everett; Mrs. Julie Edmonds of Gresham, Oregon; Mrs. Becky Heist of Lake Stevens; Mrs. Jennifer Schwindt of Bothell; a sister, Mrs. Mary Jane Kucharski of Boardman, Ohio; and brother, Edward Benedict of Phoenix, Arizona. She leaves 26 grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren with a favorite scripture: John 15:8 “By this is my Father glorified that you bear much fruit and so prove to be My disciples.”
